056 bis - Advanced Algorithms and Techniques for Resilient Time Provision

Status: On Going

Activity Code: NAVISP-EL1-056-bis

Start date: 22/06/2022

Duration: 18 Months

The main goal of this activity is to design, develop, implement, and validate a system capable of generating accurate and stable timing information with high level of integrity and availability.
To achieve this objective, the system will combine the input timing information provided by several timing sources, each generally with different characteristics. The system shall be able to detect inconsistencies in the provided timing information, hence it shall be capable of detecting potentially faulty behavior of a timing source and/or an artificial attack on the timing infrastructure.
The applicability of such technology is very broad, from time service providers for critical infrastructure and network operators to trade organizations, oil and gas companies, scientific research and power grid providers, at different scales and based on the available time information sources for each of them.
