ESA's NAVISP-EL1-077 project aims to develop a prototype Position, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) system, focusing on secure positioning through GNSS and 5G encrypted signals. The initiative includes creating two emulators: a User Terminal Emulator (UTE) and a Service Provider Emulator (SPE). Qascom and the consortium have two main objectives: developing a testbed and a prototype User Terminal. The testbed includes a GNSS and 5G receiver and secure key management systems. The prototype, a compact evolution of the testbed, features advanced encryption and security using Zynq System on Chip technology. Both systems leverage Galileo’s authentication services, including OSNMA and E6 encrypted Commercial Service for data and security management.
