The TruGENa project, Game Engine for Navigation, focuses on developing an intelligent and reliable localization and navigation system for various mobile robots, using the Unity 3D game engine. It replaces a limited third-party LiDAR-SLAM stack with a flexible, in-house solution that merges multiple localization technologies such as GNSS, Lidar and 5G into a real-time digital twin. This approach enables accurate and redundant positioning in complex and dynamic environments. Using innovative AI-based methods, TruPhysics and IAS Institute from University of Stuttgart enhance the performance, improve the adaptability, and support the data-driven localization and intelligent dynamic actuation. Additional efforts include the generation of synthetic training data, exploration of advanced AI models, software-in-the-loop testing, and integration into the existing TruNIVERSE robotics platform.
