233 - AQTIS - Timing Instrument for Space

Status: On Going

Activity Code: NAVISP-EL2-233

Start date: 01/06/2025

Duration: 15 Months

The AQTIS project is developing a next-generation cold atom atomic clock optimized for space applications. The system aims to deliver exceptional timing precision and long-term stability in harsh environments. Designed to overcome the limitations of traditional atomic clocks AQTIS targets critical needs in satellite and on ground applications such as navigation, deep space missions, and precision scientific experiments. The project will produce a laboratory demonstrator to validate the concept, paving the way for a space-deployable solution. By addressing gaps in existing timekeeping technologies, AQTIS sets the stage for more accurate global navigation systems and resilient timing infrastructure in both orbital and terrestrial conditions.
