This project will conduct a detailed investigation into the feasibility for, and if feasible, propose a design for a non-governmental function - a PNT Innovation Institute (PNTII). Several industrial and academic entities, including the National PNT Office, have identified the need for such an institute at the outline level through workshops at the Satellite Applications Catapult and National Physical Laboratory. This need is for a dedicated Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) centre to support the National PNT Office from an industrial and academic perspective.
If the PNTII is determined as feasible, this project will also propose how it might operate (operating model) and present this in the context of other UK and international institutes conducting similar activities.
