111 - Managing GNSS Local Effects in the Railway Environment for Advanced Safe Train Positioning
Status: On Going
Activity Code: NAVISP-EL1-111
Start date: 29/10/2025
Duration: 18 Months
The main objective of this ITT is the study, design, implementation and demonstration of technologies, techniques and solutions to handle the presence of GNSS local effects (multipath, NLOS, jamming, spoofing) within the context of an EGNOS supported multi-sensor localization unit for railway users.
This project aims at filling this gap by considering the following specific objectives:
1. Study and identify suitable integrity algorithms and approaches to manage GNSS local effects in the railway domain.
2. Propose of multi-sensor architectures allowing for a realistic allocation of integrity and continuity requirements among GNSS, EGNOS and different sensors onboard.
3. Trade-off assessment of the possible approaches and algorithms to manage the local effects errors and threats models.
4. The design, implementation and demonstration of proposed concepts with real railway data collected in relevant and diverse scenarios.
