HYPE (Hybrid PNT Engine) seeks to obtain accurate and robust PNT performance over different scenarios by combining provable and explainable traditional "white box" methods with the adaptability to challenging environments of machine learning based "black box" models

The HYPE project aims to:
a) investigate the potential benefits of black box techniques, finding out which are the most effective for PNT, accounting for both performance and computational cost;
b) implement a hybrid PVT engine making use of both white and black box estimators that combine GNSS observables and inertial measurements;
c) design a controller capable of properly fusing and re-configuring white and black box solutions, depending on the environment and on the target performance.

The activity will assure verifiability and interpretability of the obtained solutions, and allow the developed PVT engine to be used also for safety-critical applications.
