The Civil Protection Centre of the University of Florence CPC-UNIFI, in a context of emergency support, which includes design and implementation of early warning systems as well as application of advanced technologies and methods for first responder techniques for Civil Protection purposes, asked collaboration to Sistematica S.p.A. to build a solution in order to have early warning and persistent surveillance during disaster recovery and emergency response scenarios. Accordingly, Sistematica S.p.A. is creating a consortium to build a solution to operate with a fleet of aerial, terrestrial and underwater drones in a semiautonomous way being also connected to the Italian U-Space operator (D-Flight); this configuration allows to significantly extend the on-field area coverage for quick monitoring and surveillance. PNT, in terms of integrity, accuracy and reliability (with reference to coming Galileo service OS-NMA, integrity algorithms and cooperative positioning) is clearly a key enabling technology.
